Health and Operations Safety

The unquestionable priority of human life and health over industrial output statistics has been the main principle of Intergas Central Asia’s activities in terms of enhancement of the personnel safety throughout entire operations of the gas transportation facilities.

ICA developed and introduced an Integrated Health and Safety Management System (IHSMS) which adopts uniform procedures for organization and conduct of operations in the sector of health and industrial safety in compliance with the requirements of the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and international integrated quality management system.

ICA’s industrial facilities are regularly assessedforcompliance to the standards of the work stations safety according to work conditions categories.

With respect to assessment of the impact of potentially hazardous industrial activities on the employees’ health and to prevent occupational diseases, the ICA carries out annual medical examinations. The results of the medical examinations combined with the assessment of the work stations are further analyzed and used for elaboration of measures reducing the negative effect of hazardous industrial impact. Every ICA work station has pre-shift medical examination of employees who are occupied in potentially hazardous activities. To prevent occupational diseases, employees are provided with special catering, sanitary consumables, protection cloths and footwear, individual protection kits, the Company purchases all necessary medical supplies, and performs disinfection at the industrial sites.

Training classes for labour and operations safety function at every subdivision of the Company’s branches and are equipped with personal computers, video devices, visual aids, promotional materials and technical documentation, and also with simulation systems to train first aid skills. At its industrial sites, the Company conducts regular technical training of employees while making use of video aids to demonstrate appropriate and safe methods of operations and utilization of proven and safe labour techniques, and first, pre-doctor visit, aid. Workers are annually tested for the level of competence by the results of the technical training. Pursuant to the requirements set forth in standards and technical documentation, engineers and technical staff are evaluated every three years by commission panels chaired by the representatives of the relative HSE supervision state bodies for compliance with HSE operations and industrial safety requirements.

ICAhas set a 5-staged system of administrative and industrial inspection of consistent application of rules and requirements for safety and technical operation of equipment and facilities.
